ARCHAEOLOGICAL INVESTIGATIONS AT THE MUGINSKY SITE IN 2021

The paper provides the results of archaeological exploration Muginsky site (Akushinsky district Republic Dagestan) and paleobotanical analysis obtained material. As a result investigations carried out, various archeological materials, mainly ceramic ware, have been uncovered. finds fragment stone mace head flint knife-shaped blade are particular interest. In addition, large number animal bones, small cattle, were found. Exploration provided new important material for cultural historical characteristics culture central part Mountainous Dagestan chronology site, allowed us to determine two-layered nature date it final phase Eneolithic (Layer 4) Middle Bronze Age 3). radiocarbon dating Layer 3, with calibration (1770 ± 50 BC), attributes between 19th–18th centuries BC. Paleobotanical examination from layer has revealed an atypical combination barley rye grains. grains found earliest evidence presence this cereal in Eastern Caucasus, which raises question time ways dissemination cultivated crop primary area. This subject requires further research obtaining more extensive collections layers resource zone around sites. will expand our understanding economic activities local population, such as development agriculture emergence terraced agriculture.
